Campus Wide Service

Jesus demonstrated a great life of service to all those he came across: healing the sick, feeding the poor, mending hearts, washing their feet, dying for their sins... As the Body of Christ we realize that service to others is an essential part of sharing and living out the Gospel that makes God's love relevant to others by the simple act of filling a need.

In that Spirit we are looking to create opportunities for Penn Christian Community to serve on three levels:
1. Campus Community
2. City Community
3. Global Community

This year we are focusing on developing relevant and practical ways to serve students on campus on a consistent basis. Some future ideas we have for serving the city community include a ministry to the homeless and hospital visitation/prayer for patients.

If you would like to get involved, or have any ideas, please email Michael Hu at: michael (at) pennforjesus (dot) com.

Current P4J Service Initiatives

The "Have a Nice Day!" Campaign

To bless students on Penn's campus, we are planning to, once a week, provide free food and basic materials to make a little difference in their daily lives. In the winter season we are giving out free cocoa, cough drophs, tissues, and snacks. In the warmer seasons we will give out cold drinks and ice pops. We hope to do a few events during the summer as well. There will be no strings attached, no tracks taped to pastries, no bible verses on cups, but our very act of service will demonstrate God's unconditional desire to bless and to love in a relevant manner. This will also hopefully break down non-believers mistrust of suspicion of Christians giving away stuff.

Fraternity Clean-up

Throwing a party on campus can create a pretty dirty mess. Around once a month, we are looking to go to the various fraternities on Penn's campus and serve them by cleaning their houses.

Finals Study-Break

We are looking to hold one of the largest study breaks on Penn's Campus during finals week. One night during finals we will sponsor a simultaneous study break all over campus, localized in each dormitory, where people will be able to come out and enjoy food, drinks, snacks, and music.
