The University of Pennsylvania is once again joining the national Y.O.P.P. (Year Of Partnered Prayer - see below) 24/7 prayer chain to cover the whole semester in 24/7 prayer for college campuses. We are hoping to make prayer both visible and available to all who walk by the tent, and this tent may be a place of His Presence and Power to bless those around.

SPRING 2006 PRAYER TENT: The Daily Pennsylvanian, on its own accord, ran a front page news article on the prayer tent, as well as a political cartoon in the opinion section. You can access the article here, or download a pdf file of it here. The cartoon can be found here. See the UPHOP Blog for pictures from this prayer tent.

"YOPP" - Year of Partnered Prayer
Nationwide 24/7 College Prayer Chain
August 2006- August 2007

Over the past few months, several ministries discovered that they were all being led by God to introduce 24/7 prayer rooms on college campuses. Seeing the similarity in their missions, they decided to join together in an effort to cover the entire Spring 2006 semester in 24/7 prayer through a continual prayer chain of college campuses all across the nation. And from January 20th, 2006 until May 6th 2006 a non-stop chain of 24/7 prayer was carried out by over 70 campuses across the nation!

Over the summer, at a landmark gathering of about 90 student leaders nationwide, God made it clear to us that He wanted us to do a whole year of 24/7 prayer this year!

ANNOUNCING : a "YOPP" on universities & colleges in the USA!

What's a YOPP? A YOPP is a Year of Partnered Prayer, and the idea is this: God spoke to all the attendees at the CTN gathering about filling the 2006-07 school year with 24-7 prayer on college campuses throughout the nation, with each school taking a few days or a week (or more!) of 24- 7 prayer, until the entire year is covered! We'll link you up through a website, and each voice will be counted and included to compose an unbroken YOPP. This is a call to every student – to each college and university in our nation – to consider yourself essential to the dream of God in establishing His kingdom on U.S. campuses. The implications are globe-reaching, and it literally all begins in the place of prayer!

Attached to this email are 3 documents:

"YOPP: What is it?" – This is a one-page piece about what YOPP is, and a bit about how the Lord spoke His desire to see YOPP happen!

"YOPP: How do we get involved?" – This is a 3- page document for student and campus leaders, letting you know how to get your campus involved in YOPP by mobilizing a 24-7 prayer room on your campus.

"How to Run a Prayer Room" – This is a little more in-depth, a how-to (taken from the 24-7 Prayer Manual by Pete Greig & David Blackwell) on starting & running a 24-7 prayer room.

The YOPP will begin on August 21st, with students at the University of Missouri-Kansas City praying for 5 days. Who will be next? If you are ready to mobilize students at your school to pray starting August 25th, let us know ASAP! We're trusting God to fulfill His word for this YOPP, and He'll do that through students like you! We realize the amazing potential of a nationwide prayer effort to accomplish several things:

1) Nuture a spirit of prayer on your campus
- Places who have tried 24/7 prayer rooms have seen an increase in their members desire/excitement to prayer as well as personal prayer time
2) Nuture unity amongst campus fellowships/churches.
- It is difficult for just one fellowship or church to coordinate a day of 24/7 prayer. Attempting 24/7 prayer often helps christian groups on campus who don't normally interact on a regular basis to come together.
3) Nuture a greater vision of what God is doing across the nation
- Oftentimes we get so caught up in just doing things in just OUR campus, or OUR fellowship. Joining in a unified effort interlinking college campuses across the nation will help to see what God is doing our campuses in a context of what God is doing in our Nation.

Recently PennforJesus joined in this nationwide effort and it was amazing! If you would like to get involved in future prayer efforts on our campus please email Michael at michael(at)pennforjesus(dot)com
